Natural foods, naturally grown
We are a small family farm in BC’s Fraser Valley, near Fort Langley. The cool, misty mornings create excellent conditions for artichokes, which are usually grown in the Mediterranean and California.
We plant 20,000 artichoke plants each spring and harvest them from late July until the frost arrives. Each plant can yield three to five “arties”. We also pick some “baby artichokes” early. These can be eaten whole.
We also grow summer and winter squash, beans and peppers, cabbage, kale, cardoons, tomatoes, and more—all using natural, sustainable farming methods.
We
artichokes!
Artichokes are full of fibre and folate, crammed with Vitamin C, and packed with phytonutrients and antioxidants. All that and just 60 calories each.
Artichokes are also fat-free and can help improve heart health, lower cholesterol, improve muscle function and fight liver disease. They’re even said to be an aphrodisiac and can help you get over a hangover. Tasty, too. No wonder rival mafia gangs went to war over them in the 1930s.
